Pakistan-China Technology Gateway to facilitate tech transfer

The Pakistan-China Joint Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PCJCCI) on Thursday assured that after the commendable success of the Pakistan-China Knowledge Portal in facilitating businesses of the two countries, an online Pakistan-China Technology Gateway is expected to establish soon.

Addressing a think tank session, President PCJCCI Wang Zihai highlighted that the prime agenda of the chamber is to provide technological advancement for human resources development.

After the successful working of the Pakistan-China Knowledge Portal, we are keen to establish an online Pakistan-China Technology Gateway,” he announced.

The President further explained that the Tech Gateway project between the two countries would be launched in collaboration with China. The aim would primarily be the transfer of redundant technology from China. He vowed to step up the pace of technological development in Pakistan through Chinese cooperation.

PCJCCI Senior Vice President Ehsan Chaudhry also spoke at the occasion saying that the exploration of alternative sources of energy such wind power, solar, run-of-the-river power plant, nanotechnology and wind power along with the acquisition of appropriate technology from China in the field of renewable energy was also included on priority.

While announcing the establishment of state-of-the-art Chinese information and material center which would be carried out in two phases, the chamber’s Vice President  Sarfaraz Butt said at the occasion, “The first phase involves the establishment of a display center and the second phase involves the transfer of production facility from China to Pakistan.”

PCJCCI and its knowledge portal

The Pakistan-China Joint Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PCJCCI) was established in 2013 to encourage trade and investment between Pakistan and China and protect the interests of business entities in both countries. Its first-ever knowledge portal was initiated on October 7, 2021, and nearly 3,000 people have benefited through this portal so far, according to the chamber’s President.

The knowledge portal contains information on projects and economic collaboration between the two countries and offers registration facilities for companies and immigration information.
