Captain Misbah and veteran batsman Younis gloriously retired from international cricket as Pakistan won Test series
Misbah-ul-Haq and Younis Khan ended their illustrious Pakistan cricket team careers with a historic Test series victory over West Indies cricket team after Yasir Shah sealed a dramatic 101-run win despite a magnificent Roston Chase century.
Last night, Pakistan and West Indies played a thrilling Test match, third test match of the series resulted just six spare balls when Pakistan clinch a first series victory in the West Indies home ground.
Roston Chase s unbeaten 101, his second hundred of the series, proved in vain as the home side, set a target of 303 at Windsor Park in Dominica, slipped to 93 for six before the lower order almost rescued a dramatic draw.
Shannon Gabriel, West Indies’ No. 11, had spent just over half an hour at the crease, and had seen out 21 balls. Gabriel had kept out those 21 balls by trusting his defence, but now, in one of the most inexplicable moments in Test cricket’s history, he swung wildly, madly at a loopy full delivery pitching well outside off stump from Yasir Shah. The ball took his inside edge and rattled into off stump, sealing one of the greatest days in Pakistan’s cricket history.
On the second side – Misbah’s captaincy had done what Hanif Mohammad, Javed Miandad, Imran Khan couldn’t do. He had led his side to its first ever series victory in the Caribbean, a 101-run win sealing his – and Younis’ – careers with aplomb. Test cricket certainly has a way of rewarding its own.
“This was just incredible,” said a breathless Misbah after Shannon Gabriel dragged a wide delivery from Yasir Shah onto his stumps.
Pakistan most successful captain Misbah mentioned his family and supporters while taking to presentation ceremony for the last time he said, “I would like to thank Almighty Allah, whatever I had, whatever success I got throughout my career, to end like that, I couldn’t ask for anything better. Then I would like to thank my family: my mother, my sisters, and especially to my wife Uzma who supported me and was always there. This series was only for her because I could have finished in Australia. She just convinced me and the fans that I have to come. And this team, too, most of these players [said], ‘You don’t have to end like that. You have to go winning and performing well.’
Pakistan captain Misbah said “I’m happy with what I’ve had in my career, couldn’t have asked for a better finish, I’m really happy for this team. The way they gave me and Younis a send-off, I wish Younis all the best. It was a fine journey with him in the middle, sharing a lot of partnerships. In the history books, both our names will be there.”
Veteran middle ordered batsman Younis leaves as Pakistan’s most prolific batsman, with 10,099 test runs at an average of more than 52, he is having 34 centuries and 33 half centuries.

At the end of the match, life partners of both Younis Khan and Misbah ul haq came into the ground to support and pay tribute to their husbands.
