Pakistan has started negotiations with Italy on a ‘Labor and labor force import Agreement’ to provide more opportunities to local skilled youth to get employment in the competitive Italian Job market, Ambassador of Pakistan to Italy Jauhar Saleem said Sunday.

“The agreement is need of the hour for the exchange of legal workforce and legal migration between the two countries,” Jauhar Saleem said while talking to media through the 3rd phase of a series of digital ‘Zoom Link’ media talks organized by the embassy of Pakistan in Rome.

The Pakistan Embassy in Rome is currently working to provide legal assistance to Pakistani migrants, and the “Workforce Export Agreement” between the two states is one such link for creating opportunities for the local skilled labor in the Italian potential market, said the Pakistani envoy.

The current strong economic and trade ties between Pakistan and Italy will help to foster such a potential agreement, which will bring the two countries closer together, he added.

Jauhar Saleem further said that the two countries have agreed in principle to negotiate a labor agreement that will give Pakistan comprehensive market access to Italian labor market.

Commenting on the matter, he further added that this agreement could also help to stop the process of illegal employment of Pakistani in Italy as well as other European countries.

Pakistani youth is very talented and through this agreement, Pakistan will be able to export skilled labor in the EU, said the Pakistani envoy.

“Our youth in Pakistan are very talented and now through this agreement, we will be able to export skilled labor in the EU, which will enable them to do well in the competitive market here and also increase the remittance in the foreign exchange reserves of the country,” Jauhar Saleem added.

The agreement would also address the labor internship programmed and the training of the tourism labor force, which would further enhance the capacity of the young skilled labor.
