ISPR released a promo to tribute the sacrifices of soldiers and citizens who laid down their lives for the country
The entire Pakistani nation is celebrating Defence Day with traditional fervour and solemnity in remembrance of the sacrifices rendered in the 1965 war.
The nation and armed forces renewed pledge to defend the geographical, ideological boundaries and territorial integrity of the motherland against all threats.
In 1965 on 6th September, Indian forces crossed border to attack Pakistan but the nefarious designs of the enemy were foiled by numerous sacrifices rendered the armed forces.
The 6th September day dawned with special Fateha and Quran Khawani for those who serve the nation by embracing the supreme sacrifices.
The main event of the day being continues at General Headquarters in Rawalpindi to pay tributes to the martyrs. Army Chief General Qamar Bajwa will address the ceremony in the evening.
At Naval HQ Islamabad, deputy naval chief Rear Admiral Farrukh Ahmed laid floral wreaths at Yadgar-e-Shuhada. A special ceremony was also held at Malir Garrison Karachi to mark the significance of the day.
An exhibition of defence equipment was held at Colonel Sher Khan Stadium in Peshawar.
President Mamnoon Hussain and Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, in their separate messages they paid homage to all those who laid down their lives in defending the motherland and said Pakistan is fully capable of defeating aggression.
Chief of Army Staff General Qamar Javed Bajwa, in his Defence Day message, warned enemies of the country that they “shall fall short of their bullets, but our resolve shall not”.
In his message on the occasion, Air Chief Marshal Sohail Aman vowed that the nation would combat any challenges facing it with fierce determination and unity.
Chief of Naval Staff Admiral Muhammad Zakaullah said Pakistan is now making progress on every front with sure-footed determination and resolve.
Meanwhile, former army Chief Raheel Sharif paid a visit to the grave of his Major Shabbir Sharif Shaheed (Nishan-i-Haider) and laid a floral wreath on the grave. Major Shabbir laid his life on Dec 6 while defending the motherland during the 1971 War.

On this Defence Day, Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) released a promo honouring the sacrifices of soldiers and citizens who have laid down their lives for the country.
The promo include Captain Shareef Shaheed, Captain Sarwar Shaheed, Flying Officer Marium Mukhtiar Shaheed, Aitzaz Hassan, Captain Karnal Sher Khan Shaheed, Major Aziz Bhatti Shaheed, Major Tufail Shaheed, Lance Naik, Major Muhammad Mahfuz, Bashir Ahmad Bilour, Captain Akash, Nasrullah Afridi, Havaldar Lalak Jan Shaheed, Captain (r) Mobin Ahmad and Sawar Muhammad Hussain Shaheed.
