Terrorist attack on Army Public School shook the country and resulted in the formation of a National Action Plan

The third anniversary of the devastating terrorist attack on Army Public School (APS) Peshawar is being observed today.

On this day in 2014, a group of terrorists stormed the army-run school and killed around 150 people, including more than 130 young students.

A function in connection with the third anniversary of terrorist attack on Army Public School Peshawar is in progress at the school to pay tributes to the martyred students and teachers and Corps Commander Peshawar Lt. Gen. Nazir Ahmed Butt is the chief guest on the occasion.

December 16, 2014, Considered as one of the blackest days in the history of the country, the wounds of that tragedy are still fresh and the pain is still felt as the entire country struggles to reconcile with the loss, especially the parents of the slain children.

As a security measure, all schools in the provincial capital remain closed today in view of the APS terror attack. However, people will hold candlelight vigils throughout the country to honour all the innocent souls who were massacred brutally.

This incident shook the country and resulted in the formation of a National Action Plan to stem extremism and terrorism from the country, as well as the creation of military courts to try ‘hardcore’ terrorists.

Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi has paid tribute in his message to the nation on the anniversary of the tragedy of Army Public School (APS) Peshawar.

He said the valiant security forces of Pakistan defeated the terrorists under the National Action Plan and broke their back consequent to their tireless efforts and the blood of the innocent people has come to fruition making the Pakistani nation the only nation across the world that had defeated the terrorists
