The deal will further enhance the relations between the two brotherly Muslim countries
A memorandum of Understanding (MOU) was inked between Pakistan and Oman for military cooperation at the headquarters of the Omani Ministry of Defense in the capital Muscat. The deal was signed by Oman’s Secretary-General of the Ministry of Defense Mohamed bin Nasser Al-Rasby and the Pakistani ambassador to Muscat, Ahsan Wagan.
As per a statement from the Oman News Agency (ONA), the MoU was signed in light of military cooperation in a way that “enhances and serves the common interest of two friendly countries”.
The agreement will further help strengthen the relations the field of military as well as other areas between the two brotherly Muslim nations.
Friendly relations
The two countries have maintained friendly ties through the decades. The two sides have an annual bilateral trade of several hundred million dollars. However, this can be further enhanced in time to come. About 30% of the Omani population were Baloch’s for the Balochistan province. Gawadar at the time of the creation of Pakistan was with Oman and it was bought by Pakistan in 1958. It was later integrated into the Balochistan province.
