Pakistan and Palestine called for demands Israeli to end its settlements in the West Bank.
Pakistan has vowed continued support for Palestine’s stance regarding the eviction of illegal Israeli settlements on the West Bank.
Pakistan and Palestine on Tuesday called upon the international community to implement the United Nations Security Council’s Resolution 2334 that demands Israel to end its settlements in the West Bank.
Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas stressed that peace in Middle East could only be achieved by solving the Palestine-Israel dispute.
“We urge the international community to play its role in just resolution of the Palestinian issue,” he said and urged the UN Security Council to implement resolutions on the withdrawal of Israeli forces from the occupied territories.
Nawaz expressed Pakistan’s commitment to the Palestinian cause. “Pakistan will continue its support for the Palestinian cause at all forums. We also look forward to the international community’s sincere efforts for sustainable peace in middle east,” he said. Sharif said the Palestine problem was a long-standing issue on the UN agenda and needed a practical solution. He expressed satisfaction over the opening of new Palestinian Complex at Diplomatic Enclave.
President Mehmoud Abbas, who is on a three-day visit to Pakistan, was given a warm reception when he arrived at the Prime Minister House on Tuesday. Abbas last visited Pakistan in 2013.
On the second day of his three-day visit, Abbas met Sharif at the premier’s residence in Islamabad where discussions also covered conflicts in the Middle East, the ongoing Kashmir dispute and terrorism, Geo News said.
“I have briefed Prime Minister Sharif on the latest developments related to the Middle East crisis, including Israeli settlements and the U.S. decision to shift its embassy to Jerusalem,” Abbas said at a news conference.
President Mamnoon calls for peaceful settlement of Palestine, Kashmir issues
President Mamnoon Hussain and his Palestinian counterpart Mahmoud Abbas have stressed the need for early and just resolution of Palestine and Kashmir issues for peace and prosperity in the region.
The two leaders called upon the international community to urge Israel to halt expansion of settlements and play its due role in resolving the long standing Palestine issue.
President Mamnoon Hussain said that Pakistan and Palestine have historically enjoyed close relations, which are based on mutually shared warmth and trust for each other.
PM Nawaz, President Mahmoud Abbas inaugurate Palestinian Embassy
PM Sharif and President Abbas also inaugurated the new building of the Palestinian Embassy in the Diplomatic Enclave and both leaders unveiled the plaque of a new complex, which houses the chancery and ambassador’s residence. Pakistan had donated the plot for the new building in 1992 and contributed $1 million for the project as well.
President Mamnoon stated that the people of Pakistan have great affection for the people of Palestine as well as the Palestinian cause adding that the new Palestinian Embassy Complex in Islamabad has become another symbol of our friendship.
