Pakistan PM given briefing ahead of February 3 visit to China

Prime Minister Imran Khan was briefed on Wednesday about the ongoing discussions with China on future cooperation projects ahead of his February 3 visit to Beijing.

PM Khan will pay a three-day visit to China from February 3 to attend the opening ceremony of the Winter Olympics Games, Beijing 2022, at the invitation of Chinese leadership.

During the visit, Khan will meet Chinese leaders to review the entire gamut of bilateral ties, besides attending the inaugural session of the Winter Olympics in Beijing.

The session was attended by Army Chief Gen Qamar Javed Bajwa, PM’s Special Assistant on CPEC Khalid Mansoor, Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi, Minister for Energy Hammad Azhar, Finance Minister Shaukat Tarin, Information Minister Fawad Chaudhry, Planning Minister Asad Umar, Adviser on Commerce Abdul Razak Dawood, National Security Adviser Dr Moeed Yousuf, and other senior officers.

The Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) said Khan was updated on the ongoing talks with Chinese officials on “plans for enhancing cooperation with China in the fields of investment, trade, information technology and exports”.
