Pakistan on Thursday categorically rejected the report of the so-called ‘Delimitation Commission’ for Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK).
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) summoned the Indian Charge d’Affaires (Cd’A) on Thursday and handed over a demarche conveying the categorical rejection of the report maintaining that the so-called commission was aimed at subjugating and disempowering the Muslim majority population of the IIOJK. Through this process, Modi government only wanted to legitimize its illegal actions of August 5, 2019, he further added.
The delimitation commission has further reduced the representation of Muslims in the re-designated constituencies, claimed the spokesperson, adding that this is clearly against the Muslims.
“This shattered the rationale pushed by the Indian Government that the ‘delimitation effort’ was aimed to ‘empower’ the local population. However, in reality, the new electoral boundaries would further disempower, marginalize and divide the people of the occupied territory. It would only pave the way for installing yet another puppet regime backed by the BJP-RSS combine,” according to the statement issued by the foreign ministry.
The Foreign Office spokesperson said in a statement that Pakistan has conveyed to the Indian authorities that the entire effort was ludicrous and the political parties in IIOJK have already rejected it. The foreign office conveyed to the Indian Cd’A that the Jammu and Kashmir dispute was an internationally recognized dispute and a long-standing item on the agenda of the UN Security Council.
It was emphasized that any illegal, one-sided and mischievous attempt by the India government to give Hindu population of IIOJK a disproportionately higher electoral representation was an attempt to ridicule all norms of democracy. Indian government is morally as well as under the UN Security Council Resolutions and international law obliged to give Muslims of IIOJK their due representation.
It was underscored to the Indian Cd’A that the Fascist Modi government must refrain from making any illegal demographic changes in the IIOJK, stop forthwith its oppression in the the occupied territory, and let the Kashmiris decide their own future through a free and fair poll under the UN auspices according to the relevant United Nations Security Council resolutions.
