Pakistan, Saudi Arabia agree on workers’ protection and skill enhancement

Pakistan and Saudi Arabia, on Sunday, signed two detailed agreements associated with the Workers’ Recruitment and Skills Verification program, according to a press release issued by the foreign office.

The signing ceremony took place at the Ministry of Human Resources & Social Development, Saudi Arabia during the visit of Professional Training and the Federal Minister of Education, Shafqat Mahmood, to Saudi Arabia.

Under the program, Pakistan’s workforce is being employed in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia as well as an agreement for certification and employment of Pakistani skilled workforce through Takamol and NAVTTC.

As per the Press release, the Signing of these agreements paves the way for building strategic partnerships and complementary relations between various Ministries and Departments of Pakistan and Saudi Arabia.

Benefits of Workers’ Recruitment and Skills Verification Agreement:

 Following are the benefits of the two recently signed deals;

  • Agreement on Workers’ Recruitment will contribute toward further streamlining the process of export of workforce from Pakistan in diverse professions in the Saudi Arabia.
  • Safeguarding the due rights and provision of comprehensive legal protection to Pakistani workers employed in Kingdom.
  • It will also help in resolvingcontractual disputes.
  • Taking legal recourse against recruitment offices, companies or agencies for any violation.
  • Agreement on Skills Verification will enhance export of skilled and certified Pakistani workforce tothe Kingdom.

Agreement for certification and employment of Pakistani skilled workforce:

In order to facilitate the Pakistani emigrant workforce, NAVTTC under the headship of ShafqatMahmood, Minister for Federal Education and Professional Training, Chairman NAVTTC Syed Javed Hassan and Executive Director NAVTTC SajidBaloch worked day and night to achieve this hallmark far-reaching Agreement between NAVTTC and Takamol said the Press release issued by Education Ministry.

The PR further added that this important collaboration between both countries has a comprehensive impact on enhancing the employment opportunities for the skilled Pakistani workforce by combined certification and testing by Takamol Saudi Arabia and NAVTTC National Vocational and Technical Training Commission Pakistan.
It will enable also the Pakistani skill workforce to have authentic and internationally recognized joint certification by both Takamol Saudi Arabia and NAVTTC Pakistan, through the Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) assessment.

The Ministry of Human Resource and Social Development of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) has also introduced Skill Verification Program (SVP) implemented from July 2021 in order to legalize its labor market. After the implementation of SVP in KSA, skill verification has become necessary for the Pakistani skilled workers, who aim to have employment in Saudi Arabia.
