Pakistan signs $85.6 million deal with Ukrainian company to modernize tanks

Pakistan has awarded a contract worth $85.6 million to Ukrainian state arms conglomerate, UkrOboronProm, to modernize its T-80UD main battle tanks.

Pakistan and Ukraine also discussed new orders for the supply of 6TD1 and 6TD2 engines at the International Defence Exhibition & Conference (IDEX) held in Abu Dhabi from February 21 – 25.

Pakistan’s Minister for Defense Production, Zobaida Jalal, and CEO Ukroboronprom, Yuri Gusev, signed the contract for the modernizing T-80UD tanks.

“Our armored-manufactured companies are constantly updating their production capacity and improving technologies that ensure high-quality work and products,” said Yuri Gusev, CEO of Ukroboronprom.

“We also discussed with Pakistan new orders for the supply of 6TD1 and 6TD2 engines”.

Pakistani Army operates nearly 2680 main battle tanks including Al-Zarrar, Al Khalid, T-80, Type 85, Type 69 and Type 59.
