Pakistan Team wins IBSF World Snooker Championship

Final match of the Championship played between two Pakistani teams

Pakistan Snooker team has won International Billiards & Snooker Federation (IBSF) World Championship in Hurghada, Egypt.

The winning team having former World Champion Muhammad Asif and current World No 4 World 6 Reds Babar Masih edged out Pakistan-1 of Muhammad Sajjad and Asjad Iqbal.

Pakistan Snooker Federation fielded two teams in the event, Mohammad Sajjad and Asjad Iqbal’s Pakistan-1, while Babar Masih and Mohammad Asif made the team Pakistan-2 at International Billiards & Snooker Federation (IBSF) World Championship.

Final match of the tournament was played between two Pakistani teams. Pakistan-2 team has won the World Team Snooker Championship after defeating Pakistan-1team by 5-4 frames.

Team Pakistan-2 gave a good start and capitalised first two frames but after that in doubles Sajjad and Asjad made 60 points break and won the frame.

In the deciding frame, though Team-1 had a good start but Pakistan-2 countered well and won it 70-29 to complete the win with overall score of 76-08(50), 74-34, 26-70(60), 78-52, 31-52, 02-53, 46-44, 13-68, 70-29.

With this win, Pakistan now has 2 world team titles. In 2013, a team comprising Mohammad Asif and Mohammad Sajjad had won the title for country.

Apart from this title win, Pakistan has now won ten medals, with wins of Asian six Reds and World Junior U18 championship in a span of last four months.

Pakistan’s snooker teams made a history in Team Snooker category that two teams of same country has played the final.
