Pakistani national flag will be the eighth tallest flag in the world

Pakistan is all set to hoist the tallest flag in its territory at the Attari-Wagah border as part of 70th Independence Day celebrations.

Official’s work on putting up the tallest flag is in full swing across the border to hoist its flag at 400 feet on its Independence Day on August 14.

Earlier, India had hoisted their Tri-colour of monumental proportions on March 5 at Attari but just after a couple of days of its inauguration, strong winds damaged the flag.

Since then it has been replaced five times after being damaged. The Indian home department is still struggling to find out a solution for the repeated damage to the flag due to wind.

Meanwhile, Pakistani media reports say that a 120 feet wide national flag would be hoisted on a 400 feet flagpole, which will be fifty feet higher than the India’s tallest tri-colour.

If hoisted successfully, the Pakistani national flag will be the eighth tallest flag in the world, the reports state.

The Attari-Wagah border is a popular tourist site as thousands of people gather here every evening to witness the ceremony where the flags of both the nations are lowered.

According to the Guinness Book of World Records, the tallest unsupported flagpole has been erected by the Jeddah municipality and Abdul Latif Jameel Community Initiatives in Saudi Arabia. The 561 feet high flag was hoisted on September 23, 2014.
