Pakistan to send medical aid to Palestine

Aid would help in relief efforts in Gaza and other areas under heavy Israeli bombardment

Pakistan has announced to send medical and humanitarian aid for the people of Palestine suffering from continuous Israeli airstrikes and atrocities.

Pakistan’s federal cabinet approved sending medical and humanitarian aid in a meeting chaired by Prime Minister Imran Khan, said Information Minister Fawad Chaudhry.

The humanitarian aid would help in relief efforts in Gaza and other areas of Palestine facing heavy Israeli bombardment which has killed 213 civilians, including 61 children, and wounded more than 1500 Palestinians as of May 18, according to the Gaza Health Ministry.

Since the beginning of the Israeli attacks, Pakistani citizens have been demanding the government to send aid to the people of Palestine.

Pakistan’s largest humanitarian organization, Edhi Foundation, has also announced to launch relief operations in Gaza. The head of the organization, Faisal Edhi, said that he approached the Palestinian embassy and his team intends to travel to Palestine via Egypt.

Edhi Foundation plans to transport medicine, tents, food and other relief items worth Rs 30 million for the people of Palestine.

On Tuesday, Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi reached Turkey from where he will go to New York to attend the UN General Assembly session on Palestine together foreign ministers of Palestine, Turkey and Sudan.
