Pakistan and Turkish military officials discuss defence cooperation during COAS Bajwa’s visit

Pakistan’s Chief of the Army Staff General Qamar Javed Bajwa has said that improved Pakistan-Turkey cooperation will have a positive impact on regional peace and stability.

Gen Bajwa said that Turkey is one of the key Muslim countries and acknowledged the Turkish engagements with Pakistan especially the ongoing efforts for continuing the positivity for peace in the region during his daylong visit to Turkey on June 23.

During his official visit, the Pakistan army chief held meetings with the Minister of National Defence of the Republic of Turkey, Hulusi Akar, as well as Commander Turkish General Staff General Yasar Guler, and Commander of the Turkish Land Forces Umit Dundar.

During the meeting, matters of mutual interests, bilateral defence and security cooperation in various fields, regional security situation including recent developments in the Afghan peace process were discussed.

The Turkish officials appreciated Pakistan’s positive role for regional peace and stability, especially the Afghan peace process and pledged to continue working for better relations between two brotherly countries.

On his arrival, Pakistan COAS was also presented with a guard of honour by a smartly turned out military contingent.
