ISLAMABAD — During a high-level inter-action on March 2, 2015 Pakistan and Uganda agreed on the need for high level bilateral political contacts and cooperation in defence, security, agriculture and industrial fields.
The decision to expand ties was taken at a meeting between Prime Minister’s Special Assistant on Foreign Affairs Syed Tariq Fatemi and visiting Ugandan Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Asuman Kiyingi in Islamabad.
Syed Tariq Fatemi assured that Pakistan will continue training facilities for Uganda under its “Technical Assistance Programme.” Ugandan Minister said President of his country is looking forward to visit Pakistan in the second quarter of current year.
Uganda Minister of State for Foreign Affairs also called on Adviser to Prime Minister on Foreign Affairs Sartaj Aziz and discussed matters of bilateral interest.
Pakistan is keen to expand its ties with Asian and African states and has offered training facilities to a number of African countries particularly Uganda under its Technical Assistance Program. -PPA
