Pakistan’s Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) fighter Uloomi Karim Shaheen beat India’s Yadwinder Singh in a World Series of Fighting Global Championship (WSOF-GC) match

KARACHI – Pakistani Mixed Martial Arts fighter Uloomi Karim earned a dominating win over his opponent Yadwinger Singh in World Series of Fighting Global Championship bouts in Manila, Philippines.

The 25-year-old Kareem, fighting under Team Fight Fortress’s banner, dominated the bout from start to finish to earn a unanimous 30-27, 30-27, 29-28 win  and improved his career MMA record to 6-3.

The winner Uloomi Karim said, ‘he was confident of his success despite he was not backed by anyone.’ He dedicated his victory to Kashmiris and said that he was kept abreast of violence in the occupied territory.

‘I have nothing but respect for Yadwinder, and as both our camps agreed, sports and politics don’t match. Any tension there is between our countries should stay at the border and not be extended to regular folks’ lives,’ he added.

Pakistan’s Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) fighter Uloomi Karim was received with a rousing welcome as he returned back to Pakistan after overpowering Indian player Yadwinder Singh.

Uloomi Karim hails from Gilgit-Baltistan and he has been taking part in global MMA competitions since the last five years.

Another MMA fighter from Pakistan, Ahmed Mujtaba, was also successful in Manila as he beat Philippines’ Neil Laranow in the first round via a Triangle Choke.

Mujtaba also thanked his trainers and parents but reserved special praise for the Balochistan University of Information Technology and Management Science VC Farooq Bazai for his support.

Ahtesham Karim, Uloomi’s elder brother, who runs the Fight Fortress Club in Islamabad expressed his delight on Uloomi’s success and hoped he will carry on the winning streak.

Ahtesham believed both fighters are capable of challenging any other fighter at the event. Uloomi and Mujtaba are competing in global MMA competitions since the last five years.

Uloomi Karim is representing Pakistan in the flyweight fight. This is not the first time Uloomi is representing the nation in an international arena, he has been playing at foreign lands for over two years now.
