Boeing 777 is expected to join PIA fleet this week

Pakistan’s National carrier PIA is ready to induct another wide-body Boeing 777 Aircraft to its fleet this week.

According to details, this new B777 aircraft will be acquired on a dry lease for an amount that has not been made public as of yet.

B777 — with registration number F-OSYD — is a wide-body Boeing 777-3Q8(ER) and was operational with Air Austral of France and comes with an age of 8.5 years. It made its debut flight in April 2009.

Pakistan International Airline is likely to get the plane this week after which it will be branded with PIA’s own livery and will be operated by PIA for long-haul routes.

With new arrangement with Boeing — PIA would be all good to deploy 777s for premier service, which could be used for long-haul flights to US, Europe and eastern routes.

Sources confirmed that the lease is being managed by a Macquarie and lease term is six years for now. It must be mentioned here that PIA was over capacity for its hajj flight due to recently grounded aircraft.

Boeing 777s is modern wide-body twin jets.

This type is the 777-300ER (Extended Range). It seats 393 passengers in three classes, including a business cabin that seats 35 plus another 60 in premium economy.

With more upgraded aircraft, sources tell, PIA could extend PIA premier service routes to destinations beyond London.
