PM Imran Khan calls UAE crown prince, condemns Houthi terrorist attacks on UAE

Prime Minister Imran Khan on Tuesday called Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan to offer condolences for Houthi terrorists’ heinous attacks on UAE leaving three people dead, including a Pakistani national and six injured.

Three fuel tankers exploded in Abu Dhabi on the site of an oil firm of ADNOC on Monday after they were targeted by the explosive-laden drones. The Abu Dhabi police confirmed the death of three people out of which two are identified as Indians while one is Pakistani.

Houthi rebels in Yemen claimed responsibility for the drone attacks.

“The Prime Minister strongly condemned the heinous terrorist attack by Houthi militia on civil facilities in Abu Dhabi on 17 January 2022. He offered deepest condolences to the families of all the victims and prayed for the speedy recovery of the injured,” said the statement issued by the PM office.

“The Prime Minister expressed solidarity with the leadership, government, and people of the United Arab Emirates. He underlined that such attacks cannot be justified and stressed on the immediate cessation of these attacks, which continue to pose a grave threat to regional peace and security.”

Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed also offered his condolences to Mr. Khan over the death of a Pakistani national in the oil field attack.

FM condemned Houthi attacks

Earlier on Tuesday, Foreign Minister of UAE Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan had a telephonic conversation with Pakistan’s Foreign Minister Makhdoom Shah Mehmood Qureshi in which they discussed the details of tragic terrorist attack in Abu Dhabi.

Condemning the terrorist attack, Mr. Qureshi emphasized the need to stop such incidents which are a threat to regional peace and stability, while Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan shared his heartfelt condolences to his Pakistani counterpart on the death of a Pakistani national in the terrorist attack.
