PM Imran meets Saudi crown prince, appreciates green initiatives of Kingdom

Prime Minister Imran Khan Monday met with the Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud on the sidelines of the Middle East Green Initiative (MGI) Summit in Riyadh.

The premier paid tribute to the leadership of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz in the progress and development of the kingdom and reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to protect Saudi Arabia’s territorial integrity. Imran Khan assured that if the Kingdom ever faced a security threat, Pakistan will stand with it.

Saudi Vision 2030

A statement issued by the PM Office said the prime minister also lauded the crown prince for the ‘Saudi Vision 2030’, which aims at transforming the socio-economic development of Saudi Arabia in the 21st century.

Imran Khan also congratulated the crown prince on successful organising the Middle East Green Initiative (MGI) Summit on climate change. The premier said that the Summit clearly demonstrated the Saudi leadership’s commitment to take substantial measures to effectively tackle the challenges of climate change.

He noted that the Saudi Green Initiative and the Middle East Green Initiative closely align with climate change initiatives of Pakistan namely ‘Clean and Green Pakistan’ and the ‘Ten Billion Tree Tsunami’.

Saudi-Pakistan investment forum

Prime Minister Imran Khan also addressed Saudi-Pakistan investment forum held in Riyadh on Oct. 25. The Forum was hosted by the Saudi Minister of Investment, His Excellency Eng. Khalid bin Abdulaziz Al-Falih.

The Prime Minister, in his address, thanked the Saudi Minister of Investment for his invaluable role in successfully organizing the Investment Forum. He also warmly welcomed the investors to the Forum and expressed the hope that tangible outcomes would be achieved for the benefit of the two countries.

He hoped that the private sectors of the two countries would take full advantage of close and cordial bilateral relations to realize the untapped potential in the fields of trade, business and investment.

The event was attended by a large number of Saudi investors and businessmen, key Pakistani business leaders, investors from Pakistani Diaspora, and stakeholders from Pakistan’s private sector based in the Kingdom.

Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi; Advisor to the Prime Minister on Finance and Revenue Shaukat Tarin; and Minister for Energy Hammad Azhar also spoke at the event.
