President Mamnoon, world leaders felicitate Erdogan over victory in elections

ISLAMABAD: President Mamnoon Hussain has extended felicitations on behalf of the Government and people of Pakistan to President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on his victory in the presidential election.

According to Foreign Office spokesperson, President Mamnoon Hussain underscored that the large turn-out and peaceful conduct of parliamentary and presidential elections is a testimony to the strength and vibrancy of Turkey’s democratic values and institutions.

He expressed hope that Turkey will continue on its path of progress and prosperity under the leadership of President Erdogan. The president said the historic and unparalleled bilateral relations between Pakistan and Turkey will continue to grow from strength to strength.

Later on Monday, Pakistani Prime Minister Nasir ul Mulk also sent a congratulation message to the Turkish President Recep Tayyib Erdogan.

al elections in the first round of voting by winning more than half of the votes, the chief of Turkey’s election authority said Monday.

Head of the Supreme Election Council, Sadi Guven said Justice and Development Party, Republican People’s Party, Nationalist Movement Party, Peoples’ Democratic Party and Good Party have surpassed ten per cent threshold in the parliamentary election. He said the remaining uncounted votes will not affect election results.

Meanwhile, Recep Tayyip Erdogan has declared his victory in the presidential and parliamentary elections. His ruling AK Party is also leading in parliamentary elections, with 42.4 per cent of the vote counted.

The People’s Alliance, consisting of AK Party and MHP, has won 53.6 per cent of the vote so far.
Addressing from his party headquarters in Ankara after his election victory, Tayyip Erdogan said his government will increase the country’s international reputation. He said the new government will confront terror groups more decisively. The YSK is to announce final results on Friday.

According to Iranian news agency, Iranian President Hassan Rouhani in a message congratulated Recep Tayyip Erdoğan on his re-election as president of Turkey. Iranian President Rouhani congratulates Turkish counterpart on re-election.

In his message released on Monday, Rouhani expressed hope the friendly and brotherly ties between Iran and Turkey would be strengthened based on historical, cultural and religious commonalties, good neighborliness, mutual respect and interests.

He also hoped for close cooperation between both countries’ officials as regard regional and international development to pave the way for solving problems, promoting peace and stability and increasing welfare in the region.

According to presidential sources, Albanian Premier Edi Rama congratulated President Erdogan via a telephone call, which Erdogan received with thanks.
Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev also congratulated Erdogan on his “great success” in the presidential election, according to a statement by the Azerbaijani presidency.

In a phone call, Aliyev said Turkey has grown under Erdogan’s leadership, adding that Turkey’s economy has scored great successes and Ankara has cemented its position internationally.

According to Bosnia’s tripartite presidency, Bosniak leader Bakir Izetbegovic telephoned Erdogan to congratulate the Turkish president on his success in the elections.

In a phone call, Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas also congratulated Erdogan on “the success of the Turkish democratic process and his victory in the presidential elections,” said the official Palestinian News Agency (WAFA). Abbas said, “I wish Turkey more success, progress and stability.”

Erdogan, according to the agency, stressed Turkey’s “continued support” to the Palestinian people and “their just cause and their right to freedom and stability.”

During a telephone conversation, Qatar Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al Thani also congratulated Erdogan on his success in the presidential and parliamentary elections, according to Turkish sources.
Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic wished Erdogan success in carrying out his duties.

“Serbia gives great importance to a true friendship with Turkey and Serbia is committed to fostering good and solid relations. We will continue to be a reliable partner to Turkey and its leadership, which is ready to protect and defend values and principles in more challenging times,” said Vucic in a written statement.

Messages of congratulations also came from Greek Foreign Minister Nikolaos Kotzias, Sudanese President Omar al Bashir and Uzbekistan President Shavkat Mirziyoyev.

The first greetings from an EU country came from Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban, according to Turkish presidential sources.

Meanwhile, Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko on Monday congratulated his Turkish counterpart on his presidential election win.

Poroshenko on his Twitter account said: “Congratulations to Recep Tayyip Erdogan on his re-election as president of Turkey. [I am] Confident that people’s trust and new constitutional powers will open additional ways for further development of Turkey and well-being of the Turkish nation.”
“Ukraine is determined to build on UA-TR strategic partnership and enhance cooperation in all spheres,” he added.
