Quetta’s Hazara women break stereotypes by opening women-only restaurant

A group women from Hazara town’s Baluchistan – a region known for highly male-dominated society breaks all stereotypes by running restaurant only for ladies.

The restaurant is only dedicated to women to come together, sit and engage while having delicious food for a change getting service from ladies comfortably.

Three months ago,a social and political activist Hamida Ali Hazara and founder of HurmattyNiswa Foundation, has opened the restaurant run by women and is only for women.

Hamida started a restaurant in Quetta named Hazara Restaurant where she is giving women an opportunity to work, sit and engage while having delicious food for a change.

Hazara women run ladies restaurant despite all odds in Quetta

It is less complicated to speak about ladies’s empowerment throughout informal espresso meetups in air-conditioned venues. However, talking about it in rural cities and truly taking main steps in the direction of virtually attaining the objective is kind of a difficult job.

Hamida’s basis works within the schooling and well being sectors and different areas with a significant concentrate on bettering the lives of Hazara ladies to create consciousness amongst them by seminars and occasions.

Hamida while talking to the journalists said that she started this restaurant to empower women, In our society it is still considered an insult that women are earning money to run the house. Despite that I still wanted to take the first step for women to gain confidence and earn money.

There are seven ladies and two men working at her restaurant, men are in the accounts  and procurement section while the ladies do the work inside the restaurant.

She said the restaurant serves over ten dishes, desserts and beverages. The menu items range from trotters to chicken soup, zinger burger to chicken karhai, kebabs to French fries. The restaurant starts at 10 AM and is open till 12 AM at night; on special occasions and holidays they stay open till 4 AM.

The Hazara Restaurant, finally a reality, is one of its kinds, though it is an exclusive platform for Hazara women, it also welcomes families. Here women encourage each other to stand against violence and assist in finding solutions to the problems they face every day.
