Singapore Airlines has once again clinched the prestigious World’s Best Airline award at the 2023 World Airline Awards, marking the fifth time to be recognized as the Airline of the Year in the 23-year history of the awards.

The awards were announced in a gala on June 20 at the prestigious Air and Space Museum during the Paris Air Show. Over 350 esteemed guests from airlines worldwide, including numerous CEOs, Presidents, and Senior Management, attended the event to receive the awards.t

To determine this year’s winners, the UK-based aviation consultancy Skytrax conducted comprehensive and independent customer surveys from September 2022 to May 2023, across a vast selection of over 325 airlines worldwide.

Dubbed the aviation industry’s equivalent of the Oscars, the World Airline Awards started in 1999 and have since remained independent and impartial. Skytrax, the organizer of the awards, covers all customer survey expenses and the awards ceremony, ensuring the integrity and objectivity of the awards.

Goh Choon Phong, CEO of Singapore Airlines, accepted the prestigious World’s Best Airline award and expressed gratitude to the airline’s dedicated team, highlighting their efforts in preparing for the recovery of air travel.

“This award is a testament to the indomitable spirit of our people, who worked tirelessly and made many sacrifices to ensure that SIA was ready for the recovery in air travel. That has allowed us to emerge stronger and fitter from the pandemic as a leading international airline,” Goh said.

Edward Plaisted of Skytrax said: “It is a fabulous achievement for Singapore Airlines to achieve this World’s Best Airline title for 2023. Singapore Airlines achieved excellent results in many of the award categories, with the highlight being the recognition of their First Class cabin as the World’s Best First Class. We congratulate Singapore Airlines on this success which should be a source of great pride and satisfaction for the airline management and staff.”

Qatar Airways, a seven-time winner of the Airline of the Year award, secured the second position in the world rankings for 2023. ANA All Nippon Airways claimed the third spot, followed by Emirates in fourth place and Japan Airlines in fifth place.
