Slovakian and Ukrainian skiers outclassed their rivals in both men and women categories of the ski competition.

MALAM JABBA – Jan Jukubco of Slovakia remained unbeatable on the last day (30 January 2017) of the Malam Jabba International Alpine Ski Cup held at the scenic resort of Swat.

Slovakian and Ukrainian skiers outclassed their rivals in both men and women categories of the ski competition.

At least 50 men and ten women skiers from Pakistan, Morocco, Slovakia, Sri Lanka, Greece, Afghanistan, Turkey, Ukraine and Tajikistan took part in the Malam Jabba International Alpine Ski Cup.

On the first day of skiing races, the Ukrainian skiers outclassed their rivals in both men and women categories.

In Men’s Giant Slalom category, Ukraine’s Ivan Kovasnkyuk and Vasyle Telychuk got first and third position respectively while the second spot was secured by Slovakia’s Jan Jakooba.

In Women Giant Slalom category, Ukraine athletes Tetyana Tikun and Anastasia Gorbunova got the first and second positions.

Pakistani international skier Ifrah Wali got third position in the category.

The International Ski Federation (FIS) approved event is expected to benefit the tourism industry of Pakistan and revive international competitions in the country, it been for the first time in this historic event at Malam Jabba.

“It’s a dream come true,” said a local Pakistani skier about the event in which international teams will compete for 64 medals.
