The Conjuring 2 – a movie so terrifying that it might have killed a man
A 65-year-old man died in a cinema auditorium while watching a screening of horror movie The Conjuring 2. The incident occurred at the Sri Balasubramaniar Cinema in Tiruvannamalai, a town in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu.
According to Times of India, the man complained of heart pains and fainted near the movie’s climax.
The elderly man suffered a chest pain and fainted towards the climax of the film. He was taken to the Old Government Hospital, where he was declared brought dead. The deceased’s name and other details about him could not be traced, police said.
According to the report, the hospital’s paramedical staff then asked the friend to take the body to the Tiruvannamalai Government Medical College Hospital on the town’s outskirts, but the man allegedly disappeared with the body.
People dying while watching movies is quite a rare phenomenon and surprisingly, the deaths haven’t been only because of horror films.
In 1989, a Danish audiologist named Ole Bentzen started laughing so hard during a show of A Fish Named Wanda that he hyperventilated and elevated his heart rate to about 200-500 beats per minute. The strain gave him a fatal heart attack as he died in the theatre.
The movie, released in theaters worldwide, is a sequel to the 2013 original starring Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga. The two played paranormal investigators who document the Amityville murders in 1976. In The Conjuring 2, they travel to London to investigate a family that is possessed by spirits.
Already, the film has received stellar reviews from terrified critics.
The Conjuring 2 has already grossed more than $104 million worldwide since its release in early June. The film, a sequel to The Conjuring, follows the Warrens as they investigate paranormal activity in 1977.
