The two sides will discuss Pakistan-Turkey relations and reviewed regional and global issues
Turkey’s foreign minister Mevlut Cavusoglu arrived in Islamabad on Tuesday night for an important two-day visit tomorrow.
During his third visit to Pakistan in the last two and a half year, he will meet with Prime Minister Imran Khan, President Arif Alvi and Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi.
The visit is part of “regular high-level exchanges between the two countries”, according to the ministry of foreign affairs.
- During his two-day visit, the Turkish FM will coordinate meetings for the preparations of the seventh Pakistan-Turkey High-Level Strategic Cooperation Council which is the highest level decision-making forum, providing strategic direction to further boost the partnership between the two countries.
- The two sides will discuss “bilateral relations will be reviewed and regional and global issues will be discussed.”
- He will also officially inaugurate the new compound of Turkey‘s Consulate General in Karachi, the country’s financial capital.
- He will also attend the second Pakistan-Turkey-Azerbaijan trilateral meeting on January 13 in Islamabad. During the trilateral meeting, the three foreign ministers would explore possibilities of deepening trilateral cooperation in all areas of common interest, including peace and security, trade and investment, science and technology, education and cultural cooperation.
Pakistan-Turkey ties
“The fraternal relations between Pakistan and Turkey are deeply embedded in common faith, culture, and history and underpinned by exceptional mutual trust and respect,” said the foreign office. “Forthcoming visit of the Turkish Foreign Minister will help further deepen the bilateral ties and enhance cooperation in multiple areas.”
The two countries have always enjoyed a strong bond of brotherhood. It has been growing stronger with time. In recent years, both countries have been working together on different levels. Turkey has proven to be a strong ally, especially when it comes to Kashmir on the international platforms. The latest visit should further strengthen this bond. A partnership between the two countries will help them both gain financially as well as strategically in international affairs.
“Turkey is an important member of the OIC Contact Group on Jammu & Kashmir and has been consistently supporting the cause of self-determination of the Kashmiri people,” the statement read.
