American Ambassador David Hale, during his recent visit to Karachi, paid his respects to Pakistan’s founding father Muhammad Ali Jinnah. He laid a wreath as a sign of respect to Pakistan’s founding father Muhammad Ali Jinnah at Mazar-e-Quaid in Karachi. Later, he signed the guestbook on behalf of the U.S. Mission to Pakistan, noting that he was “honored to commemorate the legacy of Muhammad Ali Jinnah.”
“The United States shares his founding vision of a democratic, tolerant and unified Pakistan. My visit to his mausoleum has offered me the opportunity to reflect upon his unique vision and accomplishments and their continuing importance to all of us as we work toward a strong and peaceful Pakistan”, Ambassador David Hale said.
The new American Ambassador assumed duties in Islamabad, Pakistan on November 18, 2015.
David Hale is a career member of the Senior Foreign Service with the rank of Career Minister. He served as Ambassador to the Lebanese Republic from 2013 to 2015. He was the Special Envoy for Middle East Peace (2011-2013), Deputy Special Envoy for Middle East Peace (2009-11), and Ambassador to the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan (2005-8). He has also served in Tunisia, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, and at the U.S. Mission to the United Nations, and multiple tours in Lebanon and Jordan. In Washington, Hale was Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Israel, Egypt and the Levant, Director for Israel and Palestinian Affairs, and Executive Assistant to Secretary of State Madeleine Albright.
