Rex Tillerson will talk with Pakistani leadership on bilateral cooperation and regional security situation
United States Secretary of State Rex Tillerson arrives in Islamabad on his maiden visit to hold high level meeting for building a future course Pak-US relations.
US Secretary of State Rex Tillersond will talk on bilateral issues with Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, Foreign Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif and Army Chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa.
Rex Tillerson was recently invited for Pakistan tour by Foreign Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif, who recently toured the US.
The bilateral cooperation between the two countries and to seek Pakistan’s help for American efforts to reach a peaceful solution in war-torn Afghanistan.
US Secretary will also discuss Pak-US ties, Pakistan’s critical role in the success of South Asia strategy of the US and the expanding economic ties between the two countries.
“The Secretary will meet with senior Pakistani leaders to discuss our continued bilateral cooperation, Pakistan’s critical role in the success of our South Asia strategy, and the expanding economic ties between our two countries,” a State Department spokesperson had said.
Tillerson will journey to New Delhi as a part of his Asia visit, he started his go to from Oct 20 from Saudi Arabia the place he took half within the inaugural Coordination Council assembly between the governments of Saudi Arabia and Iraq.
After scathing criticism from the American president, Islamabad had postponed deliberate bilateral interactions with Washington, that’s why US is continuously approached Pakistan in short time. US Defence Minister James Mattis will also visit Pakistan in December this year.
According to reliable sources Pakistani officials have prioritized the issues to be taken up with Tillerson which include the recent strain in Pak-US ties.
In September, Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi and US Vice President Mike Pence met on the margins of the UN Common Meeting after dialogue froze between Washington and Islamabad quickly after an outburst by US President Donald Trump on the eve of the announcement of his coverage on South Asia and Afghanistan.
