World leaders congratulate Biden, Harris on election win

Many leaders have expressed hope to continue to maintain strong relations with the U.S.

Pakistan’s Prime Minister Imran Khan congratulated Joe Bidden on his victory in the U.S. Presidential elections and expressed hope to work with him on a number of important matters.

Justin Trudeau, the Canadian Prime Minister, congratulated Joe Biden and Kamala Harris and said that the two countries maintain an extraordinary relationship.

“On behalf of the Government of Canada, I congratulate Joe Biden and Kamala Harris on their election as the next President and Vice President of the United States of America,” the statement read. “Canada and the United States enjoy an extraordinary relationship – one that is unique on the world stage. Our shared geography, common interests, deep personal connections, and strong economic ties make us close friends, partners, and allies.”

Germany’s Chancellor Angela Merkel congratulated Joe Biden on winning the elections and hoped that the historic friendship between the two sides will continue to flourish.

NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg also congratulated Biden on his election win. He said that President-Elect is a big supporter of the NATO alliance and he looked forward to working with him again.

British Prime Minister congratulated Biden on his victory and looked forward to continuing the partnership between the two countries including climate change and trade security.

“The US is our important ally and I look forward to working closely together on our shared priorities, from climate change to trade and security,” Johnson said.

Qatar’s Emir Tamim Bin Hammad congratulated Biden and hoped that the two sides will enjoy a good relationship. Under Donald Trump’s presidency, Qatar faced severe political pressure from the neighboring Arab countries. It is alleged that Trump had a fall out with Qatar due to personal business reasons.

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi also congratulated Biden on his win. He also blew his own trumpet of Kamala Harris’s half Indian origin. Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte said that he can maintain a good relationship with Biden administration, much on the lines as he did with Trump.
