GWADAR (Pakistan) — China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) has become a reality with the launch of Gwadar seaport on Sunday, Nov 12.

The historic ceremony was attended by Prime Minister Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif, Army Chief General Raheel Sharif, Chinese Ambassador to Pakistan Sun Weidong and other dignitaries.

PM Sharif has termed the historic China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) project “a world of opportunities,” claiming the sharing of fruits of progress by the neighbouring countries can bring peace and harmony to the whole region. “The federal and provincial governments and Pakistan have succeeded in making the efforts of the people of Balochistan CPEC,” he said.

The Chinese Ambassador to Pakistan addressing the participants said: “This is the first time that a commercial convoy successfully passed through the western part of Pakistan from north to south, this proves the recovery of connectivity and the concept of local roads.”

Speaking on the occasion, Chief Minister Balochistan Nawab Zehri said, “the government’s efforts were due to attend our active forces and support all for the people of Balochistan, we are successful in stopping interference , and improved law and order. Strict security preparations have been done to ensure the smooth opening of exports through the port of Gwadar.

Earlier today, Chinese trade caravans arrived at the port of CPEC as the Army’s Special Security Division troops protecting the convoy. Chinese trade goods reached safely after traveling across the country from Starting their journey from Kashgar then Gilgit Baltistan to Gwadar. The arrived convoy carried the bulk of cargo at port berthed to be loaded on ships, Containers of rice and cotton, sugar machinery, some of which is destined for Gwadar development work, and the rest to go abroad to carry cargo.

CPEC is a comprehensive plan for peace and economic development. Pakistan and China, and even Iran, will affect the eastern region within a few years in addition to Afghanistan and Central Asian states will take advantage of this project. Through CPEC Pakistan and China even Iran, Afghanistan and central Asian States will also take advantage of the project in peace, economic sectors. Communication network, supply, trade and enhance cultural ties, the corridor would also help promote peace and harmony in the region resources that will make an impact on the eastern region within few years.
