Donald Trump’s verified account has been suspended after inflammatory tweets on Friday
Twitter has banned the incumbent American President Donald Trump’s verified account @realDonaldTrump from the platform due to his recent tweets that were seen as inflammatory and could lead to further incitement of violence. Twitter had previously temporarily suspended Donald Trump’s official account due to tweets that encouraged the protestors to move towards the Capitol building. Donald Trump, however, has not been banned from the social media platform.
“After close review of recent Tweets from the @realDonaldTrump account and the context around them we have permanently suspended the account due to the risk of further incitement of violence,” Twitter said. “In the context of horrific events this week, we made it clear on Wednesday that additional violations of the Twitter Rules would potentially result in this very course of action.”
Will he be impeached again?
Donald Trump was previously impeached by the lower house but was acquitted by the Senate. However, there have been calls for his impeachment from both sides of the aisle this time and he may be removed from the office before his tenure ends.
Trump continued his tirade after initial suspension
Trump continued to send signals during a sensitive period through his tweets that led to the eventual suspension. The first tweet was about Trump’s supporters.
“The 75,000,000 great American Patriots who voted for me, AMERICA FIRST, and MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN, will have a GIANT VOICE long into the future. They will not be disrespected or treated unfairly in any way, shape or form!!!”
He further continued tweeting and said: “To all of those who have asked, I will not be going to the Inauguration on January 20th.” Trump’s other statement about American patriots suggested that “he plans to continue to support, empower, and shield those who believe he won the election,” Twitter said.
Trump finds a way around
Donald Trump’s tweets that got his account permanently suspended starting appearing on various other accounts under his control. The official potus account shared the same tweets that were deleted promptly. However, his social media team accounts that shared the same tweets were also suspended.
