Over 800 million Facebook users like something on average

Use of the internet and social media is been oxygen to the world. These data statistic of social media users shows, number of people who have used Facebook regularly have been passed through two billion users worldwide.

The company’s co- founder and chief executive Mark Zuckerberg on Tuesday announced the news through a Facebook post:

“As of this morning, the Facebook community is now officially 2 billion people! We’re making progress connecting the world, and now let’s bring the world closer together. It’s an honor to be on this journey with you,” reads his post.

“It’s an honour to be on this journey with you,” CEO Facebook said in a Facebook post. Facebook was also the first in crossing the milestone of 1 billion monthly active users. The company had 1.94 billion people using its service monthly as of March 31, an increase of 17 per cent from a year earlier.

Facebook’s blog post further informs each day, more than 175 million people share a Love reaction and on an average there are over 800 million people like something on Facebook. More than 1 billion people use Groups every month.

As a gesture of thanks and appreciation, Facebook will also share few “personalised experiences” over the coming days. It will release a personalised video to celebrate the 2 billion milestones. This video can be viewed in your news feed or by visiting this link.

The company, which Zuckerberg started in 2004 in his college dormitory room, uses its huge size advantage to lure advertisers, offering them highly targeted marketing capabilities based on its data about users.

The company is also featuring fun facts on how people are contributing to the community. “In the US, we are also sharing stories of people who inspire us. Every day, people connect with one another, contribute to their local communities and help make the world a better place.”

Meanwhile, Instagram – which Facebook also owns – topped 700 million users in April and reached its own milestone earlier this month: 250 million daily active users on Instagram stories.

By comparison, Twitter had 328 million monthly users by the end of the first quarter of 2017. “Each day, more than 175 million people share a Love reaction,” Facebook said in a blog post, “And on average, over 800 million people like something on Facebook.”
