Nescafe Basement 4 has introduced exciting new voices in Pakistan’s music industry. The music TV series which features live studio-recorded music performances by underground artist is making waves in the country with its current Episode 4.
Nescafe Basement has released the third episode of Season 4 which features a cover of Love Me Again by John Newman and an original, Awaz Do by Abdullah Qureshi.
Love Me Again, originally by English musician John Newman, is a dance-pop number with hints of jazz and soul which became an international chart-topper in 2013. Nescafe Basement has given the track a new spin by featuring only female musicians in their version, which is a first of its kind music production in Pakistan. The track features Maria Fatima on vocals and guitars, Kristin Kanaria on vocals and guitars, Anna Salman on vocals, Sanya Shahzad on bass, Sumera on tabla, Arfa on sitar, Janat Sohail on ukulele, Maham on keyboards and Mishal on drums.
The first episode of #NescafeBasement4 features Zeeshan Ali on vocals, Misbah and Sherry on guitars, Asif and Zain on tabla, Asad on harmonium, Sharoon on violin, Haider on bass and Bilawal on drums.
The second episode of #NescafeBasement4 omprises of one original and one cover song. Kameez Teri Kali, originally by folk legend Ataullah Esakhelvi, is a modern interpretation of the classic folk song. The song has Mehak Ali on vocals, Yusuf Ramay on drums, Farhan Ali on bass, Misbah and Sherry on guitars, Arsalan on keyboards, Asif Amin on tabla, Sharoon on violin and Nazar on flute.
Tu Mera Naheen, an original by Rizwan Anwar, is a violin and orchestra driven track with Rizwan on vocals, Sharoon on violin, Haroon on acoustic guitars, Sherry on electric guitars, Asif Amin on tabla, Omair on bass and Bilawal on drums.
Nescafe Basement’s all-female band making waves
Nescafe Basement’s all-female band including pianist Maham Riaz, violinist Amal Nadeem, guitarist-vocalist Maria Fatima, sitar player Arfa Chaudhary, singer Anna Salman and bassist-vocalist Sanya Shahzad have made Nescafe Basement a unique milestone in Pakistan’s music history.
Nescafé Basement is a Pakistani music television series which features live studio-recorded music performances by underground artists. The show is produced by NESCAFÉ. The Artists are recruited and mentored by Xulfi, who is also the music producer of the show.
