VC Information Technology University Pakistan’s first “ADDO AI” incubator in Lahore
Pakistan’s first Artificial Intelligence Advisory and Incubator, ADDO AI Pakistan has been launched on Thursday at Information Technology University, Lahore.
The first project of Singapore based artificial intelligence incubator’s launch in Lahore, the AI incubator will also connect Pakistan with Singapore’s AI startups. Dubai and Mumbai launching will be made in later phases.
The incubator is termed as ‘ADDO AI Pakistan Incubator’ ADDO is Latin for the word “Add”. It aims to tackle huge challenges and create a batter and smarter world by combining creative skills with powerful artificial intelligence algorithms.
The advisory and incubator will be using artificial intelligence methods to improve infrastructure and conventional services for various government sectors.
The incubator has a team of experts from industry-academia partnership with top AI professors in Pakistan including Dr Faisal Kamran, Dr Asim Karim, Dr Adnan Noon Mian and Dr Mohsen Ali.
Data Science Lab Director Dr Faisal Kamran on the occasion said, “We are going to connect this incubator with Dubai and Mumbai so we can have one of the most influential Artificial Intelligent incubators in Asia.”
Dr Faisal Kamran predicted that incubator will create number of jobs opportunities for Pakistanis who will eventually be working for foreign companies while sitting in their office in Lahore.
“Students in this field will get an opportunity to work on industry-based problems. Let’s say we could do research and predict when and why users leave/switch to other networks in Pakistan’s telecommunication industry. Such issues can be resolved through AI,” added Dr Faisal.
Vice Chancellor Information Technology University and Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB) Chairman Dr Umar Saif, while inaugurating the ITU’s first incubator “ADDO AI”, said that Pakistan is all set to accelerate the startup activity by commercialising the research and encouraging the faculty for entrepreneurship for the economic growth of the country.
The SMRT project will be launched in Singapore’s top 10 universities including Nanyang Technology University, first as pilot project and then it will be generalised across Singapore’s transport system.
