Pakistani art exhibit in Turkey commemorates Rumi Day

The art exhibit in Konya is part of exhibition commemorating Rumi

ANKARA (Turkey) – Pakistan is participating in the 742nd commemoration ceremonies of the death of Moulana Jalaluddin Rumi being held in Konya from 7-17 December 2015.

Twenty paintings made by Pakistan’s renowned artist, Mr. Shafique Farooqi, representing Sufism as seen and depicted through the intellect of Moulana Rumi are on display in the Moulana Cultural Centre of Konya until 17 December.

Governor Konya Muammar Erol inaugurated the paintings exhibition on Monday evening. Shafiqui Farooqi’s book “The Tale of Drunken Flute in Whirling Dervishes” was also launched on the occassion. It reflects his personal experiences and vast knowledge of Sufism as derived from the teachings of Moulana Rumi. Mr. Farooqi presented a signed copy of his book to Governor of Konya.

The event has been organized through joint collaboration of the Embassy of Pakistan in Ankara and the Culture & Tourism Department of Konya and forms part of the cultural diplomacy of the Embassy, aimed at intensifying bilateral cooperation in the fields of art and culture  and people-to-people contacts.
