Pakistan pledges full support to the people of Palestine facing Israeli aggression

Prime Minister Imran Khan has reaffirmed Pakistan’s steadfast support for the rights of Palestinian people and their legitimate struggle during a telephonic conversation with Palestinian President Mahmood Abbas.

He reaffirmed Pakistani leadership’s complete support to Palestine during this time of crisis.

PM Khan strongly condemned the attacks on innocent worshippers in Al-Aqsa Mosque and lethal air strikes by Israel in Gaza, resulting in the death of so many civilians, including children.

At least 137 Palestinians, including 36 children, have been killed and 920 wounded in Israeli bombings and attacks in the occupied West Bank and Gaza as the violence entered the sixth day on May 15. Nearly 10,000 Palestinians have left their homes in Gaza amid the Israeli offensive, the UN estimated.

The Prime Minster reassured President Abbas of Pakistan’s efforts in mobilizing the international community against flagrant violations of human rights and international law by Israel.

Pakistan President Dr Arif Alvi on Thursday while strongly condemning Israel’s violence and illegal actions, also assured his Palestinian counterpart Mahmoud Abbas of Pakistan’s efforts in mobilizing the international community for the Palestinian cause and raising voice for the Palestinian people.

In a letter addressed to the Palestinian president, Dr Alvi had said that Israel’s violent acts were against humanitarian norms, human rights and international law. “I reassure you of our efforts in mobilizing the international community for the Palestinian cause and to continue raising voice for the Palestinian people,” the president said.

Earlier PM Imran Khan held a phone conversation with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan to discuss the worsening situation in Palestine.

The two leaders “vowed to work together especially at the United Nations in jointly mobilizing the international community to help stop these attacks” and work closely together “to raise the Palestinian issue at the international level,” the statement said.

Turkish President Erdogan has called for sending an international force to the region in order to protect Palestinian civilians from Israeli attacks. Turkey has launched a robust diplomatic effort to encourage the international community to stop Israeli aggression and hold the country accountable for committing human rights abuse against Palestinians.
